I’d just like to point out, as a solid peacenik with ONE streak of warrior goddess — defense of life — where you just really, really, really do NOT want to test me, that our boys did NOT lose that war. They fought the NVA to a stop, accomplished their mission 100%.
It was our legislative branch that turned that into a defeat by refusing to authorize the funds for the arms needed for South Vietnam to keep North Vietnam out. The will to enforce that victory drained completely with that cruel stroke.
I’d rather we did not have to lose 60,000 troops, and Vietnam millions, to accomplish that big fat nothing-burger of gloating oligarchs, to get to where we can watch things like Kiriakou getting stuck in the entrance to one of the tunnels used in the war.
It was NEVER unpatriotic to vociferate in the streets against that bloodbath. It was unpatriotic to engage us in it to begin with. They had to kill JFK to pull it off. It was, however, unpatriotic to spit on our troops when they returned. THAT was outright filthy, unforgivable, behavior.
People like to dis the living snot out of Boomers these days as though all of us were spitting on our troops and running off stoned out of our dim wits to live in hippie communes, and none of us had marched for civil rights and free speech and fought the machine so odious everywhere it reared its ugly head.
So I’d like to take this moment to mention that I think we are the reason the traitors in government are having so much trouble forcing us into doing their evil will right now and the seed reason why military enlistment is down so far. I think our military from the GWOT were reminded in time of the lessons from Vietnam — pumping out podcasts all over the complicated system of pipes of Vietnam vets telling GWOT vets all about it — leaving now vastly higher numbers of us unwilling to fall for it again.
We need to keep the truth alive at all costs, because it will cost all if we don’t.
