And if you mix it with ACTUAL capitalism instead of croney capitalism, vampire capitalism, you get something approximating a truly fair and healthy civilization.
That's why civilization depends completely on LOCAL control. You can't check the greed in distant locales. So you work on your own community AND keep a vigilant eye on the communities nearest to you. You put your body between the greedy and your community, and you make noise to be sure the communities around you do likewise in theirs.
Also, some CAREFUL application of socialism in third world countries, until they can practice the above scenario, is really the only hope for them. Neither system can, ultimately, succeed, but the careful mixture of them, that will NOT let the greed seep in, will work way better'n either... for longer.
Who knows? It might be kept up long enough to stamp out the NOT NATURAL greedy urges.
Certainly worth trying.
