It can't have been later than sixth grade when I was taught that, for constitutional purposes, a "natural born citizen" is someone whose parents were also born here, that there'd had to be some allowances for certain people who were born elsewhere, or whose parents were born elsewhere, in the very beginning... for obvious reasons... but "natural born citizen" means/meant someone born here of parents who were born here.
Surely, that information is somewhere extant, even if in a dusty antique legal dictionary.
They wanted to be certain there was the least possible foreign interference in the allegiances of a president and vice-president. Turns out that nowadays it isn't even the president's allegiances so desperately needed to keep us safe. Everybody in the goddam federal government needs to be that kind of natural born citizen, even the clerical staff. Sheesh.
