Personally, I'm appalled. I remember being appalled as a very little girl. The tv was telling me to side with Israel. I tried, but could not quite get there from here. I didn't know what was supposed to excuse their behavior — my parents were not big on discussing that sort of thing in front of me — but I was pretty sure nothing excused it.
I still feel the same way....
