Satellites pick up these fires before humans do. They know about it for over a week and then the wind blows it up 20,000 acres in a day. They did move the cows out before it hit and defended Markleeville with fire breaks and back burns.
See, the POINT is to let nature burn out all the fuels so we don't have to deal with them. Sure, it goes stupendously wrong most of the time, but they can blame "global warming" and you believe them.
