But I'm glad for the reminders of Trump's blaring shortcomings. He did and tried to do a lot of extremely good things, which sets him up there with the very top of the list of good presidents, even when you want to be merciless about his mistakes or just plain wrongheaded blundering. I want Ron DeSantis, but if my only choice is Trump again, I'm goddam doing it, even if he hasn't learned.
I would hope that Trump in 2024 says, no, I'm too old and vote for DeSantis. Unless he does something really awful, I think that guy is perfect presidential material. He doesn't let the narrative scare him off getting at the truth and he has no compunction about forcing sanity to prevail. THAT would be the dream American President... the one JFK would have been if they hadn't blown his head off.
