I never have and never will understand the human desire to be superior to other humans. I understand the desire to be good, to be better and keep getting better oneself, but to monetize it out of all proportion? Actually, to monetize it at all I have always thought the height of folly, of misanthropy.
Which had always attracted me to socialism, but when forced to assess the situation, the sheer impossibility of getting humans to stop obsessing on measuring themselves against each other with envy as their yardstick, I had to allow as how capitalism is better than socialism for the one shining virtue of it being capable of giving some people enough wherewithal to overcome tyranny. It's a sick business, either way, but capitalism can set us free if the bearer of the billions is a true human.
