Forgot to tell you that I could see the length of Ten Mile coming south last evening, and I have never, in all my decades experience with that beach, seen the tide out that far. I thought it was winding up for a tsunami, that Kilauea had blown or another monster earthquake on the other side of the rim, something, because that was a HUGE expanse of sand between water and Coast Highway.
Luckily, I was turning left up into the hills pretty soon, and I don't think there was a tsunami or only a tiny one, but it was definitely a red alert sort of sight.
