Granny Fussbudget asked me who my least favorite president was. He was amazed by my answer. He asked me who my favorite general was. He was gobsmacked by my answer.
I hate Lincoln for all the people he killed through the combination of his ineptitude and attitude, and he was not in it to free the slaves, and then he certainly did nothing to make sure the freed slaves could make their way.
I love Grant because he was man enough to do what it took to put a stop to Lincoln's despicable body count. He wasn't a good president, but he was the general of them all who faced down every drop of cowardice and got it done... weeping over the bodies as he did so. He wasn't a killer. He did what he had to do to stop the spectacular slaughter.
I don't even despise Jackson as much for what he did to the indians as this that Lincoln did. It's somehow even more reptilian, even meaner of spirit, and at least Jackson-racist wasn't Lincoln-misanthropist, and Jackson was competent in a fight and Lincoln could only wring his hands and make people die by pushbutton.
Like the psychopaths are still doing today.
