I learned about it in biology class in 1968. The commensals on your skin need to duke it out with the nasty bugs, maintain supremacy on your landscape. When you bathe too often, and particularly with chemical soaps, you are continually decimating the bacteria balance. Yes, it kills bacteria, but not all and the warm water actually leaves you with exponentially more bacteria of all sorts and not weighted in favor of the good bugs.
This is the root of most skin conditions, and it prevents the building of immunity to bugs that would be harmless to you if you had allowed yourself and your kids to build up immunity to them. You should be sending your kids out to be making mud pies and only hosing them off afterward.
We used to know this. What's wrong with everybody?
