Seems to me that if I were a member of an elite deciding who lives and who dies toward my ideal world, I would not be including a rather large chunk of my compatriots. I'd be looking for the brightest and the prettiest and the most creative from the population at large to save from the depredations of my mechanisms to subdue, sicken and kill the useless eaters.
I mean, my fellow psychopaths are darn entertaining for orgies and vicious rituals. Who wants to enjoy those alone? But, otherwise, beyond their ability to help with devious plots, they are just plain impediments to my ultimate glorification.
So I have to wonder who's the target for my propaganda?
