I mean, yes, yes, I have been pretty well educated about the ultimately planet-friendly effects of wildfires. Yes, yes, can't be denied, it's awful, awful, awful, but it makes way for spectacular regeneration, nourishes the soil, clears decades and centuries of life-choking understory, yadda, yadda, yadda.
I like the pictures of Yosemite burning because it reminds people of the beauty being seared off the face of the earth. People zapping with pain so transcendental the only cognizable imperative left to them is this exact beauty being burnt to the ground right this very now can just suck eggs.
It's just too easy for people experiencing it through their glowing rectangles to fail to experience the fullness of their own loss. Even if it will be back again in a hundred years, somehow the crispifying of incarnate love right now still hurts pretty badly... and should.
