I have held for a long time that marijuana should not be legalized unless and until all "drugs" are legalized, because I know too many people who couldn't pay their property taxes or put their kids through college unless they grew dope, and once it's legalized that option is going to close down for them.
And I've been hearing this shit about the armed and very dangerous mega-growers for thirty years, but the state of the pesticides and neurotoxins and mountains of trash... well... this has gone beyond the pale. Yes, yes, times are hard and lots of these miserable fucks are in it to feed their families, and couldn't if it were legal, but, nope. I'm sorry. This has gone too far.
I'm staunchly with William F. Buckley on the matter of drugs. Legalize all of them. They have never had the right to tell us what we could or could not put in our bodies, and the vastest portion of the secret not-a-budget would get ripped right out from the mitts of the psychopaths. Never mind all the drug-related crimes. Those would disappear too, but focus on the trillions the real criminals are raking in, ruining your community with their drug trade, then buying up at fire sale prices, ripping our wealth out from under us to use to evict us and build box stores and fast food joints.
While I'm trying to build a world where that stops happening, though, we need to get on legalizing pot. The critters and the watersheds can't take much more of this. The fires are apocalyptic, but I wonder if they neutralize carbofuran?
