Guess what.
REDWOOD COAST-NORTH COAST INTERIOR-UPPER TRINITY RIVER-
505 PM PDT MON AUG 18 2014

.NOW...
THROUGH 615 PM...SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL
GRADUALLY WEAKEN OVER THE AREA FROM GASQUET TO HYAMPOM. LIGHTNING CAN
OCCUR 10 MILES FROM THE PARENT STORM. A FEW LIGHTNING STRIKES
REMAIN POSSIBLE OVER WESTERN DEL NORTE COUNTY BENEATH THE
THUNDERSTORM ANVIL CLOUD. IF YOU CAN HEAR THUNDER...YOU ARE CLOSE
ENOUGH TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. WHEN THUNDER ROARS...GO INDOORS!
Right on schedule.

...

Glad to report that it is pouring rain out there. I hope the rain gets to everywhere the lightning is hitting, but it looks as though we'll be really lucky if this cell passes over the top two fires in California. It looks as though the rain is going to scoot right between the California fires and the Oregon fires, and so the only hopeful things about it are the heavy rain maybe going to keep fresh ones from starting off it and also maybe keep the trees it's raining on from lighting up at the drop of a cigarette butt.

...

No. Crikey! Strike that. The storm is being pushed west by a mass spinning from about south-southeast. This is just unutterably weird and I have to train myself to stop assuming the weather is coming in off the Pacific. That just is not always the case anymore. Sheesh.

always and any time....
