This has gotten radically worse since just yesterday. The forest on that side of the Coastal Range has been mostly logged out of redwoods for a very long time. It is mostly fir and what are called weed trees in these parts, but it is still redwood ground, and more so right in that area where you start to get up into the Humboldt area. I'm hoping the redwood there are big enough to withstand this conflagration.
The weed trees are just plain fuels, which is bad, but the speed of the fire, in this one sense, is good. It might eat up the fuels and move on before it's completely killed the redwoods. That's what I'm hoping for, but the hope is very, very slim, because all the trees are weakened badly by whatever the fuck they have been dumping on us from airplanes for so long. Weak trees fall to disease and fire... even redwoods.
Second growth redwood is much weaker than old growth, and much of the redwood in Mendocino county is what we locals call "third" and even "fourth growth", what has grown back from the roots of the ancients after repeated haircuts. Not even counting chemtrail poisoning there has been a bad problem for the redwoods there a long time.
I am devoted to those trees. All there is left for those of us who are this way is to hold their ground for them that they might struggle through until such time as humans stop ruining everything... fight the machine and plant our hearts out.

It got way worse, way fast, and they're not whistling Dixie about the thunderstorms either.
Red Flag WarningThis weather forecast is about the worst possible news for the trees. It's very smokey out there right now and the nearest fire, at this moment, 1pm Sunday, is about a hunnert miles from here.

It's nearly 11:30 on Sunday night and no thunderstorm yet. Very smokey earlier in the day, but earlier this evening it seemed to lift a bit. There's a fight going on between warm land air and cool ocean air, though, for sure — opening and closing doors and windows every hour or so — so we're not outta the woods yet, so to speak....
always and any time....
