No one deserves it more.

I'm kind of tickled Commanding Curves came in right behind California Chrome... I'm thinking of my struggling to remember the secret code in my dream the other day... all I could say for sure was that it was two words and both started with C.

And, yes, I took a good look at each coming onto the track from the paddock and was very relieved to find California Chrome my pick there. I almost had to give it to Wicked Strong, but the energy was too evil. The most important sign out there before they get in the gate is a buoyancy that is marked by floaty grace. It can't be choppy and marked by nerves or crankiness. So California Chrome took it on that most important marker.

When there is none of the floaty grace, the attitude has to mix with the depth of intelligence. Yes, you want them to be happy jocks with a sunny outlook, but they can't be twits... and that is the number one drawback to the breed. Neon brains. Id. Ee. Otts. This is the number one reason I had been hoping to help find the good sire to breed to our mare... who... isn't our mare anymore....

It was my plan to find a really fine specimen stud with undistinguished bloodlines and strong bones. It was going to produce a California Chrome. Nothing dumb-ass about that! And that was my idea... but... alas... my mom... the very vision of sensibleness... from all outward appearances... has no sense.

Which is what left me loving Art so much. She wouldn't listen to me, but she would listen to him.

Bless your heart Art!
