I have always wondered why we keep doing this. Even those of us who have been in bread lines or homeless or on welfare or just plain too broke to fit in anything more than brute subsistence don't ever do anything substantive about it after we've dug out from it. The oppressed and the immiserated, once lifted from their abjection, go either into active oppressing and immiserating mode or just fuck off down Easy Street so far we don't see them again. It just never seems to occur to even the victims of this system that this system is murder, suicide, genocide all in one.
