And I think the only reason the waves look so full of it is because of the length of exposure. It happens on beaches where fresh water is mixing in with the sea. It's fresh water algae that do this luminescence thing. It's beautiful to behold, and better up here where a long exposure wouldn't turn the air that horrific Blade Runner color. Even when the algae isn't running so glowingly into the ocean, one can go "star stamping" on those beaches at night. Instead of walking softly, you use a kind of stamping gait and little flecks of neon light your footfalls as you go.
