tyrosine and the modern woman

I started taking tyrosine a while back, to see if it helped me with this thyroid crap. It helps. Last night I decided to research about it more because I don't know how much to take. I want to know if it can help more or if I should just settle for the little clear spot in my brain.

I learned you have to have C and B6 happening in order to absorb it well. I learned I'm only taking about a third of the recommended dose and way less than the most efficacious dose. I found that Twinlab makes a capsule with the right amount of tyrosine, C and B6 to take three times a day. I wish they would have put the D and iodine in there too, but I ordered it anyway.

It's very weird because I find I pretty much only eat things high in tyrosine. Just like I pretty much eat only D-fortified things and still came out empty.

I'm starting to get the idea that they are leeching the tyrosine out of foods somehow, or something else in our environment is doing it for them, or blocking the absorption of it.

It has gotten so whenever something is a big deal with the mainstream I start doubting its veracity or its advisability. The big mainstream thing to say about nutrient supplementation is that it's better to eat food with the nutrients in it. Yes. Yes, that might certainly be the case, but our foods don't have the nutrients in them.
