This is soooo much like my view from my bedroom window at THIS house I could almost call it exact. I'm talking about the house at the lowerish left of the image. Thirty years ago.

It was an immaculate yellow Victorian style farmhouse... the replacement for the one that had been in about the middle bottom of that image. My bedroom was upstairs. My window overlooked sheep pasture off in the direction of the bottom of the image too.

When the sheep clumped like this, which was usually, there was one colt in that pasture with them and he would race at them like the cue ball breaking the rack. It was endlessly entertaining. They never started running when they saw him coming. They always waited until he was right on them to spread out in all directions.

My desk was at that window, with my typewriter. Two huge spiders guarded it. Boris in the top right corner and Natasha at the top left. No insects disturbed me up there.

I would go out into the field below the house and lie on my back in the grass at night, take in the stars... an eclipse of the moon.... We had a light bright enough to garden by on that house. That's how I found the toad the size of a dinner plate a few inches down in the flower bed. The flower beds were immaculate. The lawn was immaculate. I fought barn swallows fiercely with the hose every day to keep the front porch immaculate.

I can't believe they let that house go to seed. Maybe there was a fire or something.
