There was just an extremely noisy outburst of hooting here. I am often happy to engage in conversation with the owls in the trees by my house, but not often enough, and I was lost in contemplation of taking over the world when this big thing was going on out there. There were at least two, but probably three of them hooting up a storm, possibly in response to a neighbor I couldn't see, or some critter making rhythmic semi-hoots... or maybe it was a baby being shushed by a bunch of grouchy adults. Whatever. It was an owl festival around here for about five minutes just now....
