brain pans full of neon

I have spent much time watching videos of Lusitano and Friesian stallions performing miraculous feats of dressage lately. Last night, this popped onto my radar, a dressage trainer, and I was curious. The horse he is "riding" is a thoroughbred, off the track, an OTTB, as they say, and I have a GREAT deal of experience with these animals. People like to say "airhead". It doesn't cover it. There are bursts of neon in the blackness of their brains. They're maniacs, and if you want a sport horse or a pleasure horse, you do NOT want a thoroughbred. You want a thoroughbred to race. Full stop. Never mind that I suspect you really want an akhal teke to race... speed, endurance, soundness, grace AND sense... thoroughbreds are the most apt to be utterly psychopathic of any horse extant.

I am irked to find that junior riders are allowed to show stallions nowadays. I had to wait until I was 18. I had always loved stallions the most because they have the fire that never goes out... by itself. They are generally harder to train because they are pickled with testosterone, but they become interested once they get the clue and then they are outright proud to do a fabulous job. You can't break engagement with them or shit happens—no, really and right away—but OMG, THEY PERFORM. Incomparable.

All this, basically, by way of telling you I want my stallion AND my bathtub. It's time.
