I have indian feet... except the instep on my right foot is a little high. This means most shoes are too big in the heel and not big enough across the ball of the foot. Sizing up doesn't work and sizing down is suicide. But I want to be able to go tromping in the winter and my rain boots are a joke. No... make that a TOTAL joke. So I got me some serious bad weather boots. These suckers are like cement encasements for my feet, and not a spare micrometer in there, so we completely disregard how huge they are on the outside. Unfortunately my right instep has been fighting this boot and my toes are losing... going numb.

I had two options: [1] return them and try something else; or [2] force the right boot to give a little.

I forced a too big jar down into the boot and left it there for two days. I wrestled with the sucker and my boot jack a little while ago and, kazaaart, my toes are much less numb and I think I can proceed to break them in without my right foot dropping off.

Anyway, I know for sure why my ancestors pissed off wasichu by always ripping the soles off boots before they'd wear them.
