I would emerge from my itty cabin in paradise betimes to go to the "local" movie theater. I'd just get the itch sometimes. My life was a mountain of books and mountain lions... and... TREES. But I would get the itch and go to town to pick the least objectionable of whatever was playing. I have never been big on mainstream Hollywood fare, except, of course, the rare masterpieces that get let through, but when you gotta do it, you gotta do it, and I cringingly picked this one.
I was astounded to report to just about everyone I saw for the next week or so that I had loved this movie. It just, somehow, worked for me. I don't even think Matt Damon is sexy. I think he's a seriously good actor. But I was expecting the emptiness of the action genre to ruin everything anyway. So I was floored.
