It might be quite doable for someone to load up a tablet or mini-laptop with all kinds of videos and manuals and instructions for just about any contingency, stuff it in an EMP-proof container with a solar battery charger, and have your own encyclopedia of how to keep alive without "civilization". That's a damn good idea.
