I have had knock down drag outs with NASA employees on precisely this more than a few times. They have the most astonishing lies preloaded to parry with you about things like radiation belts and not being able to leave the surface in that thing if you landed and the immortal impossible shadows and the taped fake trip while really in orbit... all that.
It crossed my mind the other night to ask Elon if they would be announcing the "gravitic drive" it would take to get from here through the radiation to Mars. I mean, they'll be FORCED to come clean to get that done.
